Disability Liaison / Access

South Dublin County Council is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity and outcome for all disabled people accessing Council buildings and services.

Social inclusion is an integral part of "Connecting with Communities", the South Dublin County Council Corporate Plan 2004 - 2009. Measures to address poverty, exclusion and inequality are threaded throughout the plan and in addition, the cross-cutting theme of ‘An Equitable and Inclusive County' is included. Strategic goal 5.1.3 of the Corporate Plan states the Councils commitment to "Drive the implementation of the Barcelona Declaration across all Council functions and create public awareness of the issue".

South Dublin County Council adopted the Barcelona Declaration in June 2002 and has been actively implementing the Declaration since then through various actions and access initiatives. This EU-wide Declaration advocates the right of disabled people to equal opportunities, inclusiveness and integration.
